that the whole Anthony Wiener thing — in the grand scheme of things — doesn’t mean anything? It’s all in the dick jokes. If his last name was Charleston we wouldn’t even still be talking about it.
Please. We had a Vice President shot someone in the face with a shotgun at point blank range and got away with it. So a politician flirted with some people. That’s all that happened. This isn’t tearing at the fabric of our society. This shit happens all the time. If politicians getting hard-ons gives you such a thrill then move to Italy.
And people are asking him to resign? Please. Grow some balls and stop it with this fucking puritanical sewing circle mentality and be an adult about this.
I have to disagree with this assessment. The way I see it is that if Anthony Weiner doesn’t have the sense not to act like an adolescent while online, especially while on a site like Twitter not exactly designed for privacy, he doesn’t exactly inspire confidence as a representative in government. Anyone else sick of hearing about sex scandals and government representatives? I’m not willing to spend anymore attention or energy on these men when there are plenty of individuals who are actually taking their government positions seriously. We simply don’t read about them as much. These sex scandals are not about violating puritannical values, etc. It’s about men who have made choices to commit to women and then made choices to shit on those commitments. That matters to me because that’s not who I am and that’s not who’d I want representing me for anything. Yeah, I get it that people should do what they want and that’s fine. But we should be honest about who we are, such as married, instead of pretending we’re free to send pictures of our genitalia to whoever we want without consequence.

I don’t know, man. Sending unsolicited dick pics to randoms that you follow on Twitter is pretty much like showing people your balls on the subway. It’s not okay. And it’s not “not a big deal”.
